What to Expect
Liberty Avenue and 10th Street is getting a new bus stop. The current does not offer enough space for waiting passengers, especially in the afternoon. Plus, the limited sidewalk space leaves no room for a shelter or seating.
To improve the waiting experience, the bus stop will move to the opposite side of 10th Street, outside the Westin Hotel. Here there is already additional sidewalk capacity to better accommodate transit riders. All current Port Authority buses that use this stop will be moved to the new location and eventually all regional transit carriers.
At this new location we will be adding in a bus shelter, just like the one on Smithfield Street. This bus shelter design (without back and sides) has been successful at providing protection from the elements while still allowing passengers to flow through the space to get on and off the bus. We will also be adding in a lean bar.
When to Expect it
All Port Authority service will relocate to the new location and shelter beginning Monday, November 14th. Envision Downtown and Port Authority staff are coordinating with regional carriers to evaluate further consolidations at the new stop.
